In an age of globalization, inter-dependency, and rapid change, it is imperative for students to grasp critical and historical thinking skills. In addition, the ability to access, comprehend, analyze, and evaluate different types of media is essential to an informed citizenry. The mastery of these skills will enable students to identify the general lessons taught by history and apply them to contemporary issues. The relationships between history, literature, and other diverse cultural factors offer students the opportunity to gain a more meaningful understanding of the global community.
